In the Foothills of the Blue Ridge, Just Over an Hour from Atlanta!
Ever wanted to practice ENT in a scenic hometown community with low crime, a high quality of life and beautiful vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains? Welcome to Blue Ridge, GA. Yes, that's actually its name.
Nestled in the foothills just over an hour north of Atlanta (easily accessible by four-lane highway), Fannin County has long been a vacation destination, and now Blue Ridge and its neighboring communities are growing steadily with new permanent residents. In fact, Fannin County was recently ranked one of the nation's top ten fastest growing counties (measured by new home starts)!
With a crime rate almost 50% below the national average, and an unemployment rate also well below the national average, Blue Ridge is a great place to establish a practice, raise a family, and enjoy the great outdoors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a board certified/eligible ENT to build a practice quickly, as there is no other full-time ENT in the service area (approaching 30,000 strong). Fannin Regional Hospital is an award winning 50-bed community hospital with a new ICU and three large ORs (two of them new), a new microscope suitable for ENT work, and thyroid instrumentation already on hand.
The hospital is offering a competitive recruitment package including a generous income guarantee for your first year, along with relocation; marketing and CME dollars; a commencement bonus, and the possibility of loan repayment assistance.
Community, Facility, & Organization:
Fannin Regional Hospital, a 50-bed general acute-care facility, is Medicare and Medicaid certified, and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
* The hospital has served the Tri-State area of North Georgia, Southeast Tennessee, and Southwest North Carolina with quality care since 1977 and offers comfortably appointed private rooms, a five-bed Intensive Care Unit, a Birthing Center, and an Outpatient Specialty Clinic.
* The 24-hour Emergency Department is staffed by physicians and nurses trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
* Fannin Regional was recently recognized by the State of Georgia for a Quality and Patient Safety Initiative.
THE COMMUNITY
Fannin County, with Blue Ridge as the county center, and its many smaller communities is located only an hour and a half from the metro areas of Atlanta and Chattanooga.
* It is a special place rich in culture and beauty. Growing in tourism, home development and business, the future of the area is bright.
* With the completion of the four-lane Appalachian Highway and the whitewater venue of the 1996 Olympics just across the state line in Tennessee on the Ocoee River, Fannin has become a favorite spot for tourists and retirees.

Small towns and rural villages, farmland and wooded countryside complete the picture of tranquility offered by Salem County. Natural resources abound, including the Delaware River & Bay, Mannington Meadows, vast marshland, woodlands, lakes, and streams. Salem County's farms also contribute to the county's excellent quality of life, allowing residents the opportunity to live in a rural, clean environment, which still embraces traditional values. The preservation of farmland is of great importance. Salem County currently ranks first in the State, with over 14,000 acres preserved. Salem was known for its glass industry and still hosts Anchor Container Corp. today. The DuPont Company established its Chambers Works in the 1920s along the Delaware River and in the 1970s, PSEG built nuclear generating stations in the southernmost part of the county. Recent economic growth includes two business parks along the Interstate 295 corridor, as well as new motels, transportation plazas, shopping centers, golf courses, and restaurants. Local initiatives, including Main Street Salem and the Riverwalk Project in Penns Grove, are indicative of a new spirit of optimism that has resulted in meaningful efforts on the part of these two communities to revitalize and restore their economic base.
